Sustainability, ie the goal of living in a way that can be upheld for a long time,
includes several dimensions, namely social, economic and environmental.
Current social systems more or less exploit the individual, while at the same time strongly neglecting the social needs.
For the most part the discussion of this is handled by the Core values and CLIPS process pages.
But there is a part that is not mentioned, namely how Feenix sees itself in the larger community. Here we acknowledge the holistic nature of the human kind, ie that it is impossible to be separate from the whole.
And further we do not distance ourselves from main society, instead maintain healthy relations.
Feenix strives to be as ecological as possible. This means we
- use little resources, are not wasteful, share as much as we can
- reuse as much as possible, don't throw away unnecessary and upcycle where we can
- recycle paper/plastic/metals/glass, everything we can basically
- heat the spaces with economical air source heat pumps and solar panels
We will grow some food, but do not strive for independence, rather for a healthy and fulfilled life.
As our main goal is sustainability (neither growth nor dependence), we participate in the current capitalistic system both as individuals (employees) and as a group (association) to the degree necessary.
We strive for individual creative expression in work while maintaining strong group solidarity. See also Hub Feenix page for details of what this means.
